Committee details

The committee is made up of 15 councillors and usually meets quarterly. It acts for the council in licensing, registration and environmental protection functions.  its powers include discharging the licensing functions on behalf of the licensing authority. In practice this will normally determine licences for hackney carriages/private hire vehicles and their drivers and operators; to determine licences for market and street trading; and to license premises under the Gambling Act 2005. The committee’s role and functions are set out in the Terms of Reference in the Constitution.
